The Face Behind Taste of Place
Hi, I'm Marfa! I’m a gastronome, sommelier, food photographer and travel designer with a passion for adventure. With five languages under my belt, I believe in connection and that every corner of the globe is meant to be explored. My journey began in Moscow, where I was born into a family with a strong connection to wine—all thanks to a Georgian grandfather and barrel-making lineage.
I spent many of my formative years in the enchanting landscapes of Tuscany where I discovered my profound love for Italian cuisine and the art of winemaking while assisting in our family’s production of olive oil and Chianti Classico wine. My calling grew stronger with time, leading me to the United States to refine my expertise. I spent most of my time working on farms, honing my English skills, and finding some time for adventure in between. I fell in love with the philosophies of Slow Food thanks to my Georgian relatives and returned to Italy with what I had learned.
After applying and graduating from the University of Gastronomic Sciences in Pollenzo, my journey led me to collaborating with Slow Food International and wineries in Piedmont, where I became a tour leader and food photographer. As a lover of the world and all it has to offer.
Today I hope to curate unforgettable food and wine experiences that bring the rich culture of Langhe and Piedmont to the global stage.
